ZIP+4
A system established in 1981 that added a hyphen and 4 digits to the 5-digit ZIP Code. The first two digits of the four additional digits designate the sector or geographic area. The last two digits designate a specific delivery segment, such as a city block, a floor of a building or a group of post office boxes.
